Why Tahoe

discover why we call tahoe home

A PLACE

LIKE NO OTHER

unspoiled & limitless

In recalling the fabled line “you can’t have it all”, we respectfully disagree. In Tahoe, indeed we do have it all! Yes, the beauty and splendor of the largest alpine lake in North America is reason enough, however, if a life lived outdoors in all seasons appeals to you then, we’re sure you’ll agree.

World-class entertainment, dining, shopping and endless sight-seeing options are here year-round and serve to support the main attraction that is Lake Tahoe. While too numerous to list, the abundant amenities and wonderful attributes of all areas around Tahoe are primary reasons for our mission to create this site and provide a comprehensive guide for exploring all of Lake Tahoe’s unique communities. We hope it helps you choose the perfect one to call home!

Snow capped mountains

Winter

While rarely bitter cold, Tahoe delivers crisp, cool mountain air and mountains of snow to play in while hosting one of the largest concentrations of ski areas (sixteen) in the world. Located high in the Sierra of both Nevada and California, Lake Tahoe is truly a paradise for winter sports. The countless miles of backcountry and hiking trails open up endless possibilities for ski, snowshoe and snowmobile excursions. Oh and did we mention the breathtaking views winter creates when alpine white snow frames Tahoe’s immense crystal blue waters? No photo-shop needed!

Ski, Hike & Bike

Spring

When the snow starts to melt, Lake Tahoe delivers a lengthy new list of options to savor. Hiking is at a premium now with waterfalls, rivers and streams at peak with a distinct smell of pine in the air. Anglers also enjoy some of the best fishing in and around Tahoe’s waters and rivers during this time. And while hiking and biking may tempt you, don’t forget about Tahoe’s famed spring skiing under clear blue skies and the best spring snow in the country! Many ski areas will welcome you well in to May and June.

Majestic Sunsets

Summer

Ahhh, Tahoe summers! It’s an oft heard saying here that many come for winter and stay because of summer. Big blue never disappoints with little rain, moderate temps (72 to 77 avg) and endless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Boating, championship golf, 72 miles of pristine shoreline, hiking, biking and more, you need years to fully experience it all… and then go do it again! As a magical bonus, Mother Nature never fails to bless with majestic sunsets reminding us to cherish each amazing summer day.

Calm Tranquility

Fall

many visitors to Tahoe miss out on this special season and all that it brings. With a wisp of cool, crisp air hinting at the approaching winter, fall leaves and quiet waters bring a season of calm tranquility and unmatched beauty.
